Shooting Range Construction
New ranges, backstop replacements and full rebuilds, framed, supplied and installed by our own crew.

Building ranges, not just cleaning them
PTA Maintenance has spent more than two decades inside shooting ranges, and that's where we learned what makes a range easy, or hard, to keep safe. We now put that experience into building them. Whether you're starting from an empty room or replacing a worn-out backstop, we handle the construction from framing to finished product.
What we build
- Granulated rubber trap backstops, including framing, bedding and rubber curtain application
- Solid rubber block backstops
- Conversions from steel or sand traps to rubber systems
- Ballistic sidewall panels and Viva and Re-Viva acoustic and ballistic panels
- Soundproofing panels to control noise inside and outside the range
- Ventilation and filtration, target systems and 12V range lighting
We supply it and we install it
PTA isn't a third-party supplier handing you off to an installer. We supply the materials, including all-Canadian granulated rubber, and our crew installs them. One company is responsible for the schedule, the workmanship and the finished range.
Rebuilding an existing range
Many projects start with something that has to come out first. Because we also do demolition, lead abatement and contaminated waste removal, we can take an old steel trap or sand trap out, decontaminate the space and build the new backstop without bringing in another contractor.
Who we build for
Police services, gun clubs, private ranges and training facilities. Police services in particular asked us for one contractor who could do it all, and that's a big part of why we expanded.
Not sure where to start?
Call Peter to talk it through. Most projects begin with an on-site inspection so we can see the range before recommending anything.
